Interior Design & DIY
My favorite part about Fall is the sound of crunchy leaves and giant acorns on the ground. DIY acorns are a great way to bring a little piece of Fall into your home.
Since most acorns are flat on top, I marked about 1 inch from the point and cut the tops off with a knife.
Next, use basic white acrylic or chalk paint to cover the bright colors on our DIY Acorns. I used two layers of paint.
Cut a large circle out of one side of your t-shirt or fabric. Place your small football on your circle and apply a line of glue down the length of the football and pull the fabric tight.
Now you will have two wings on each side. Fold in the wings and apply hot glue. Do this for both sides.
Cut off any extra fabric on top and glue down any loose fabric.
With your ribbon, measure a piece long enough to wrap around the large football. You will need 3 of these pieces.
Place a drop of glue at the point and glue down the ends of the ribbon to the flat top.
Fold in the two sides around the point and glue down
Place glue along the sides of the football under the loose ribbon and pull the ribbon tight.
Place pieces two and three slightly overlapping the one before and repeat steps four and five.
Tip: use rope or yarn to make the process faster and cleaner. My string got a little messy and didn’t apply as nice as the twine.
Similar to the first acorn, use hot glue and your string to wrap around the acorn.
Once you get to the top apply your stick and leaves.
Your Done!
