Let’s talk about moving tips and tricks! We can all agree that moving to a new home is a hectic process. Packing your whole household and unpacking it to your new home is exhausting and time-consuming. But, you can do a few things to make it easier. In this post, I will share five smart moving tips and tricks. These will save you time and effort, so do not miss them!
Emptying the closet and packing the clothes is challenging for many. Packing your clothes in boxes and unpacking them again in your new home will take so much of your precious time. Instead, you can bundle about 10-15 hangers using rubber bands or zip ties. Cover the clothes in bags to protect them from damage and dust. With this hack, moving your hanging clothes is so straightforward. They take up less space than boxes and can fit anywhere in your car or moving truck. Out of rubber bands? No worries! The image below shows how you can use the strings to hold together all your hangers.
Tip: Before you even start packing, it would be best to declutter your closet this is the best moving trick for a smoother process. There is no point in moving the clothes that you will never wear. Purging your closet will help you reduce the number of clothes you need to move. On the other hand, you will have a clean and clutter-free closet in your new home.
The next moving tip is labeling. This might sound like a simple task, but doing it correctly will save you time. I like to label my boxes with the content but also indicate clearly which room the box should go to. You can also use sticky notes in different colors for easy sorting.
When you see a box with a green note, you will instantly know it belongs to the kitchen. Whether you have friends helping you or have hired a moving company, they will know which box goes where. Also, you would want to label the boxes on the side instead of the top. With this, you can easily read the label when the boxes are stacked. While being super simple, this hack will enhance your efficiency.
Packing and moving can get hectic, but the best way to pack for moving day is to plan the unpacking! Real problems start when you haven’t unpacked but need to proceed with your everyday life. To solve this, pack 3 days worth of necessities in a suitcase. This will be your go-to bag while you are in the process of unmoving. Toiletries, shoes, pajamas, makeup, and towels are the bare essentials to include in this bag. You can pack a bag for each member of the family so all of your basic needs are easy to find.
Removing the stuff from your dresser and packing it in boxes is time-consuming. Since your belongings are already neatly packed in drawers, it would be better to remove the entire drawers. Wrap them up with bags or plastic wrap so that the items inside stay protected. This will also make the dresser lightweight and easier to load onto the tuck. Once you arrive at your new home, all you need to do is slide the drawer back into the dresser.
My last moving tip and trick is to pack the items you don’t frequently use before you began packing other items. Pack the holiday decorations and seasonal clothes a few weeks before moving. You won’t need them soon, so this hack saves you from last-minute packing.
I hope my go-to moving tips and tricks will help you and make the process straightforward. I love sharing useful and practical advice with you.
